Harvesting what Summer Gave You

The Journaling Muse – Issue #32 Harvesting what Summer Gave You

A soft space to reflect, reconnect, and create with feeling.
My intention is to help you slow down and soothe your nervous system — through colour, texture, and expressive journaling that speaks gently to your inner world.

Hi, Dear Reader,

How did you spend your summer?

The end of August always feels like a shock — the season slips away so quickly, as if it was only a dream.

Walking through KsiÄ…ĹĽ Castle this month, I thought of Princess Daisy Hochberg, who once lived there. She seemed to have everything: a fairytale life in a grand castle, evenings filled with music and dancing, gardens that bloomed under her care, and the joy of raising her beloved sons. She even chose the interiors of several rooms herself, leaving a mark of beauty that still lingers today.

And yet, seasons turn even for princesses. At seventy, her husband left her for a young Spanish woman, who later betrayed him with his own son. A life that once sparkled with elegance ended in heartbreak and scandal.

But Daisy’s story isn’t only about loss. It’s also about what remained: the rooms she created, the gardens she nurtured, and the charity work she poured herself into. Her harvest was not the fairytale ending she expected, but the beauty she left behind.

It reminded me that every season leaves us with something to carry forward. Summer may be ending, but it, too, has given us treasures, small moments of joy, warmth, and lightness that can nourish us into autumn.

Journaling Prompts

  • What did this summer bring me that I want to carry into autumn?
  • What is ready to be released with the season?
  • If my summer had a harvest basket, what would be inside?

Creative Invitation
Create a “harvest page” and fill it with words, sketches, or images that represent what you’re keeping from this summer. It could be colours, textures, small memories, or lessons.
Or: use two contrasting colours (sun-gold and autumn-blue) to create a piece that blends the seasons together.

A Little Muse for You

Every season leaves a trace. Let this one end not with loss, but with gratitude for what it gave you. This week’s Muse painting is titled I’m Sailing Away.
It holds the colour of Lake Balaton, the stillness of summer mornings, and the longing to carry beauty forward — wherever the wind takes us.

Cheering on You,

Beáta
