Solstice letter for your brightest self + Zurich Sneak Peek

The Journaling Muse – Issue #23 Midsummer Light and Shadow

A soft space to reflect, reconnect, and create with feeling.

Opening Reflection: A Midsummer-night Dream

Midsummer is a special time for me.
It’s when I met my husband—so for me, it’s always been woven with romance and playfulness, like a scene from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

It’s poetic.
It’s soft and sunlit.
But midsummer isn’t only made of golden light.
This solstice, I honour the fullness of my being—light and shadow, joy and ache, presence and pause.

Writing Prompts – Tending the Inner Garden

Choose the one that resonates most today:

  • Write about a moment when joy and shadow were intertwined in your life.
How did you navigate that space?
  • What has blossomed in your life this year?
What has wilted or been pruned away?
  • How do you tend to your inner garden—nurturing both the bright and the shadowed parts?

Creative Invitation – Floral Light & Shadow

Create a simple visual journal page, collage, or sketch using the language of flowers and light.

Try using colour as symbol:

  • Bright yellows, pinks, and oranges for joy, connection, confidence.
  • Deep purples, indigos, or muted blues for grief, mystery, or softness.

Story behind my painting– Heeling Cocoon

There was a time my body was in constant pain. I couldn’t walk far, couldn’t paint for long. My energy was scattered and low. I had lost access to my strength. I felt fragile, as if I might dissolve into the air.

I poured blue paint like tears over the figure, left her face hidden, and surrounded her with soft leaves and quiet red lines—the marks of pain.

A cocoon. A shelter. A place for grace to find me.

Update: Zurich Exhibition Announcement

I’m honoured to share that I’ll be exhibiting my work in Zurich this July, alongside other artists. The exhibition is organised by ACCES.

If you’re in Switzerland—or simply want a glimpse of the atmosphere—I’ll be sharing photos and the official creatives soon. You’re warmly invited to witness what this midsummer chapter holds.

Cheering on You,

Beáta
